Every digital scrapbooker is likely to have an arsenal of fonts. If you are anything like me when I first started you will may think it's a good idea to install every awesome font you download. I assure you it's not!
A font manager is a must to manage fonts. A font manager allows you preview downloaded fonts and activate fonts you download on an as needed basis. Once you've activated a font it will install the font in Photoshop. When you are done with the font simply deactivate it until you need it again.
Don't find out the way I did that activating too many fonts at once is a major system drain. Not only will installing too many fonts drain your system resources but it makes finding fonts much more tedious.
Photoshop has it's own built in font previewer but the fonts are tiny and hard to read. You may change the size of the preview but if you have lots of fonts installed that will slow down Photoshop to almost a crawl.
In this tutorial I will show you how to download fonts from the web. From there I will show you how to manage fonts and how to activate fonts using a font manager. And finally how to install fonts in Photoshop.
I am using, and do recommend Extensis Suitcase, to install and manage fonts. However there are lots of free font managers. You may want to try FontBase
